"KULTURA LINK" is now on the net

"Kultura Link: Libraries for Culture and the Arts" is a flagship project of the National Library of the Philippines and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts - National Committee on Libraries and Information Services (NCCA-NCLIS). This project is is envisioned to link libraries with culture and arts collection through collaborative and networking strategies among and between the cultural agencies and university based libraries. It likewise focuses on developing library information sources of the participating institutions and identifies location of cultural materials to serve the research needs of patrons. Finally, it would help the National Library fulfill its role of being the primary repository of the nation’s national heritage, thereby sustaining its very essence for being.

The flagship libraries involved were: 1) University of the Philippines Diliman; 2) Aquinas University of Legaspi; 3) University of the Cordilleras; 4) Ateneo de Zamboanga University; 5) Cebu Institute of Technology; 6) Mindanao State University; 7) San Beda College; 8) University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos; 9) Visayas State University; and 10) Xavier University and; Cultural agencies namely: National Commission for Culture and the Arts; National Historical Commission of the Philippines; National Museum of the Philippines; and The National Library of the Philippines.

“Kultura Link : Libraries for Culture and the Arts” was launched last August 18, 2011 at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel. It was attended by librarians, heads of the different participating institutions, PLAI NBOT officers, Presidents and representatives of different Librarians Associations, NCCA staff, and NCCA committee and sub commitee heads.
